About me
My name is Elena Stuart. I am from Russia. I was born in Saint Petersburg, but since I was 15 I have lived in Moscow. In May of 2012 I moved to Chicago to marry my husband. Since that time my life is full of learning from morning till night as absolutely everything is different here.
I was trained at the Moscow Academy of Culture in Library Science and received my degree in 1989. Since 5th grade at school I started learning English. I realized it was interesting to learn foreign languages. It’s a kind of gate to another world, another mentality, other traditions and learning of all that can make life very interesting. The idea to learn English settled firmly in my mind. In 1999 I received a second degree from Moscow Linguistic University as a French and English translator.
I have more than 10 years of working experience in well-respected Russian institutions such as the Scientific Fundamental Library of Moscow State University - Russia's largest academic library, the library of Russian Navy headquarters, the Russian Book Chamber (analogue of Library of Congress) and a specialized business library. My last job was as an archivist at Consultant Plus which is like Lexis Nexis.
The sphere of my professional interests is cataloging and collection management. I enjoy the technical aspects of library science where I can use my knowledge of Russian, English and French.
I am the author of the book From Moscow to the Adriatic Coast published in Russia which is the basis for my website http://misstravel.us/
